No Way Jose Ice Cream Sundae!

Welcome to another installment of the Disney Summer Fun Series at Mandas Disney Blog!
This weeks Guest blogger is a true inspiration to me - She is such a wonderful Disney Blogger and an amazing Disney friend! Melissa from Disney on Wheels!

Melissa is one of the kindest, most friendly Disney Bloggers you could meet! She has a heart of gold :)
On her blog she shares her love for all things Disney, but from a very distinct perspective - Melissa experiences life from a wheelchair - she shows readers what it's like to experience Disney on Wheels, in the hope of helping others in the same situation! How awesome is that!?

Please be sure to check out her blog! There's loooads to explore! She is one of my favourite Disney Blogs! I hope you will love her and her blog as much as I do!

Thank you SO much Melissa for taking the time to Guest Blog here at Mandas Disney Blog!
Let the Sugar Rush begin! :P

I am so honored that Manda asked me to be a part of her Summer Fun Series. I am sure you know that she is one awesome gal and I am very happy to call her a Disney pal.

To me summer means ice cream. Its hot and very humid where I live so ice cream can make summer days more bearable. So to celebrate the 4th of July my husband and I decided to recreate our favorite ice cream treat from Walt Disney World, the No Way Jose. It combines two of my favorite things, chocolate and peanut butter.

We have an ice cream maker so we decided home made was definitely the way to go. It was a three day process but I think it was worth the time. The No Way Jose has both chocolate and vanilla. Instead of making a whole lot of ice cream, we decided to split the recipe since the base of both was basically the same. You can click on the links to see the actual recipes but I will take you through the steps.

On day one after we gathered all of our ingredients, we combined the heavy cream and half and half in a saucepan over medium heat, brought it to a simmer, and the removed it from the heat.

Next, placed 8 eggs in a mixing bowl and used a whisked them until they were light in color and then gradually added the sugar. Then we added the cream mixture gradually, using a whisk

This is where we went slightly off recipe. We split the mixture in half and adding the cocoa to one. We then placed them back onto the stove to thicken.

We then placed both mixtures in bowls and let them sit for 30 minutes to cool down to room temperature. We then added the vanilla to both mixtures, placed lids on the bowls, and let them sit in the refrigerator over night. Make sure that you use an air tight container. The fat in the ice cream will absorbs oder and you don’t want you ice cream to end up tasting like your leftover Chinese food.

Day 2 we made the vanilla in our ice cream maker and then placed it in the freezer and did the same thing the next morning with the chocolate. By that evening, which was the 4th, they were both ready to eat. I have to say they turned out really well. The next step was the toppings. A No Way Jose has peanut butter and chocolate sauces, peanut butter and chocolate chips, and whipped cream. We make the peanut butter sauce from scratch but cheated and bought the chocolate.

We used one of my husbands beer glasses to make the sundae since it kinda resembled the bowl our No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream came in. We placed some peanut butter and chocolate sauce in the bowl, then added two scoops of both chocolate and vanilla ice cream, drizzled more sauce on top, and then added the whipped cream and peanut butter and chocolate chips.

And there you have it, our home made No Way Jose. I think it turned out really well and may rival the original (not really but it was really, really good.) It was a fun way to get a Disney fix at home but I wouldn’t eat them too often because it is really, really sweet.

Thank you again to Manda. If any of you decide to try this at home let me know how it turns out!

Who's hungry!? I AM! lol! Wasn't that awesome!? I really want to have a bash at home made ice cream now! :D This could definitely rival the one at Beaches and Cream! It looks just like it! :D

Once again thank you so much Melissa for taking the time to be my Guest!
