Happy Bastille Day!

Bastille Day or 'La Fête Nationaleis' is the French National Day, celebrated on the 14th of July every year! And since Disneyland Paris is in ... well ... France :P they celebrate it with a HUGE fireworks display! Check out last years display in this great video below! :)

I was lucky enough to see the Bastille Day fireworks display in when I visited in July 2003! I had no idea this was going to be happening and was SO super excited when I saw it on the schedule that morning!! The best thing was, they also ran the regular fireworks beforehand! Double firework whammy! :D

And now for a short history lesson if anyone is interested! :P

Bastille Day is the Anniversary of the storming of the Bastille fortress-prison on 14th July 1789 - which was seen as a symbol of the uprising of the modern nation, and of the reconciliation of all the French inside the constitutional monarchy which preceded the First Republic, during the French Revolution.

Many festivities and official ceremonies are held all over France. The oldest and largest regular military parade in Europe is held on the morning of 14th July, on the Champs-Élysées Avenue in Paris in front of the President of the Republic, French officials and foreign guests. Doesn't that look awesome!? :)

Happy Bastille Day Everyone!
