Hi there! And Welcome to the first post of my Disney Summer Fun Series!
One of my most favourite things about Disneyland Paris in the Summer time is the gorgeous Fantillusion Parade! Every night in the Summer Season, darkness falls over Main Street for this absolutely Magical parade! It's been running in Dlp since 2003 ... and I've heard rumours that this may be its last year! D: Oh I sure hope not! I'd love to see my favourite parade one last time! :)
There are 12 floats and 3 'acts' in this parade:
Mickey's Magical Garden
Mickeys Fantillusion, Flora's Gazebo ft. all three fairies! Faunas Carousel & the Enchanted Butterfly Flower
The Disney Villains
Maleficent, Jafar and Ursula
The Happy Ending
Snow White & Prince, Ariel & Prince Eric, Beauty & the Beast, Jasmine & Aladdin, Princess Minnie's Castle
|Dry Ice is pumped out the bottom of the Villain floats!|
I'm not very good at capturing photos of this parade, all the constantly moving lights make it real difficult and most of them turn out blurry! But these are some of my favourites! :)
The parade route runs down from It's a Small World in Fantasyland down to the bottom of Main Street at Central Plaza. Each 'act' has its own parade stop - usually in front of the Castle, then halfway down Main Street, and also in Central Plaza! The Castle stops are particularly spectacular because the Castle also plays a part in the parade! During the Villain stop, Maleficent, Jafar and Usrula cast evil and darkness over the Castle turning it black and red! Then they each transform into their larger Villain states - A Dragon, Snake and Giant Ursula! I remember the first time I saw this ... I was completely blown away!! During the last stop - The Happy Ending - the princesses 'Wish they may and Wish they might, turn the darkness back into light!' Huge Mirror Balls emerge from inside their floats, lighting up the whole street and Castle in a shower of stars! And they each dance with their prince to "Someday my Prince will come" with a goosebump inducing finale! I'm getting major goosebumps just writing about it! lol!
A whopping 400,000 light bulbs are used across all the floats, along with 60km of cabling! To power the floats, 9 tonnes of batteries are used every night and recharged for the next day! Relevant music from the film and characters each float portrays is woven into the main Fantillusion theme!
I have some pretty cool videos ... but I'm saving them for another post! :D
What's your favourite parade??
Hope everyone has an awesome weekend!
