Mickey Mouse Cupcakes

I've seen lots of different ways to make Mickey cupcakes across the internet so I thought I'd have a go at making my own!

First I made some vanilla frosting and topped some pre-made cupcakes.
( Yep, I was feeling lazy that day :P )

Then I used regular sized Oreo's for Mickeys head and mini Oreo's for Mickeys ears!

I also tried with just two mini Oreo's for Mickey ears ... but I don't think this worked as well ... maybe if the cupcake frosting was black it might have looked a bit better! My dad thought this one looked more like a Panda lol!

Then I tried another way with both regular and mini Oreo's, by making a flat Mickey on top of the cupcake.

I think I like this one best lol :) Then I tried using coloured icing to make some cool Mickey toppers!

First I made a Mickey and a Minnie - for these I rolled out some balls of black icing and flattened them out. For Minnie's bow I just make the bow shape by hand and pressed some tiny white balls of icing on top for the spots on her bow! :)

Then I made Mickeys shorts and a Mickey shoe! I also tried to make a Mickey glove but failed miserably! :P I'll be needing more practice for that one! lol!

Voila!

These were so easy to make, they would be great for any age to try!

Have you guys made Mickey/Minnie cupcakes before?
There's so many different ways to do it ... I'd love to see some of yours! :D

Have a happy happy Tuesday everyone!

Yum! I bet these would ship nicely to Iowa ;) Just kidding! They are so cute! I was wondering what the non-oreo parts were made out of.. I've never seen that kind of icing before. Neat though! Did they taste as good as they looked?

Hi Manda,

I love your cupcakes! I really like the icing ones. Did you use pre-packaged fondant? I'm really craving some cupcakes now!

Here are some I did for my son's first birthday, but I covered them with chocolate icing and used peppermint patties for the ears. I really wanted to use red cupcake liners, but couldn't find any. You can see them in the background of this picture: http://mousekaholic.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/img_11021.jpg

Okay, I give, what does chuffed mean?

Manda said...

lol! I just Googled it to make sure I was right and I found out it's a British word ... I never knew! :P It means really pleased/satisfied/delighted or like, really proud of yourself/happy with yourself! :D

Haha, thanks! I just saw your reply! Now I have to figure out a Pooh cake for my son's birthday in 2 weeks! I've usually got it all figured out by now. I think I'm going to do a Pooh sitting in a Honey Pot. I also found some really cute honey pots and Pooh cake pops on Family Fun. I may have to try them out as well!.
